all i know is that history can only be percieved well with many years of hindsight, that being said we havent even begun to enter the realm of the 'real' kingdoms to come over here. i dont mean that as a religious abstract. merely as a political abstract. time has a way of making mincemeat out of the mightiest forces who arent prepared well, just ask the romans. good focus, strong goals, money, and being able to move populations and troops makes for good reading. i suspect we are now entering interesting chapters for future readers.
